Seppo Kantonen Trio was formed in 2023 and quickly established itself with tours across Finland and its debut album Call (2024), recorded in Copenhagen. The trio’s music embodies a refined, gentle modernism, performed mostly acoustically, where influences from contemporary concert music are filtered into an intimate jazz expression.

All three members are leading figures of the Finnish jazz scene with extensive international careers. Pianist Seppo Kantonen has performed worldwide since the early 1980s and collaborated with a wide range of artists from Pekka Pohjola to Ismo Alanko, alongside work with ensembles such as UMO and Avanti!. Bassist Antti Lötjönen is known from groups including Ilmiliekki Quartet and Aki Rissanen Trio, and is one of Finland’s most prominent jazz musicians of his generation. Drummer Markku Ounaskari, among the most internationally active Finnish artists, has collaborated with leading European jazz figures such as Tomasz Stańko and Trygve Seim.

Together, the trio brings a wealth of experience into a quietly expressive and finely nuanced ensemble sound.
