Quite Vivian
– an intimate late-night jazz club finale at Kupla
Quite Vivian is an international trio whose music moves at the intersection of subtlety and energy. Built around saxophone, guitar and drums, the band’s sound is at once airy and intense: playful rhythms, rich harmonies and memorable melodies flow together with ease. Their music can be described as intimate chamber jazz, breathing freely and inviting the listener into every musical arc.
The trio consists of Finnish saxophonist and vocalist Adele Sauros, French guitarist Wilfried Wilde, and Australian-born drummer Rajiv Jayaweera. The three met in Basel, Switzerland, during the Focusyear Band 2023 programme, where a strong musical connection emerged almost instantly. Each musician has built an impressive international career in their own right, and together they form a warm-spirited, distinctive ensemble that follows its own path with confidence.
Quite Vivian’s music is written by the members of the band. The compositions play with rhythmic freedom, delicate textures and strong melodies, and the music lives fully in the moment. The band’s debut album Fragile People was released in January 2026, and at April Jazz the audience will hear this fresh material in the intimate, club-like setting of the pop-up cultural space Kupla.
Saxophonist Adele Sauros is one of the most compelling and internationally active voices in Finnish jazz today. She leads her own ensembles as well as performs as a sidemusician in numerous projects, and has appeared at many major European jazz festivals. In Sauros’ music, Nordic storytelling meets a warm tone and a highly personal expression. London Jazz News has described her playing as “daringly melodic and deliciously nuanced”.
The Quite Vivian concert offers the perfect conclusion to a jazz evening in the heart of Tapiola: finely tuned interplay, international presence, and music that reveals itself best when heard up close.
