The Blue Note label published Stanley Jordan’s debut Magic Touch in 1985. Audience and critics were amazed and the album was Grammy nominated for Best Jazz record and Best New Artist of the Year. Jordan’s fresh and sensitive interpretation of the Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby was perpetually played on the radio. 500 000 copies of the record were sold and it stayed on the Billboards jazz charts for an astonishing 51 weeks.
Later on Jordan started to see him self as a therapist and pedagog and he retreated from the limelight for a while. During his long hike to the mountains he created material for his deep thoughtful album ”State of nature“, which is about the relations of humankind and nature. These are the soulful melodies that he is still forwarding to the gasping audiences.
