When the famous jazz club Birdland was founded in December 1949, Roy Haynes was performing at the opening party as the drummer of Charlie Parker Quintet. At the Birdland’s 60th anniversary there he was again, performing on stage!
Roy Haynes’ beat has been the pulse of many historical jazz bands and his compositions have been nominated for a Grammy at the beginning of the millennium.
